A Friendship Left Unanswered
I am not sure whether it was a misunderstanding.
He often invited me for meals and enjoyed discussing business ideas with me because I knew more about the subject than he did.
I spent many hours sharing what I knew, freely and gladly.
One day, I asked him if he could help deliver some goods to my customers at a discounted rate.
At the time, he was driving for Grab.
He suggested that I look for someone else.
Perhaps he felt insulted by my request.
I never asked him.
After that, something changed between us.
In a public post, he wrote that he no longer wished to spend time with people from the past who could not help him reach his future.
Today, he is far more successful than I am.
He owns several businesses and has achieved financial success.
At an alumni gathering, we were both present.
When he saw me, he did not greet me or acknowledge my presence.
That spoke louder than words.
To this day, I do not know what happened.
Perhaps he felt I had taken advantage of him.
Perhaps I misunderstood him completely.
Many broken relationships are built on assumptions that were never discussed.
