A Pair of Boots
I joined the school Red Cross Society when I was in Secondary 1.
We had to buy our own uniforms, but I could not afford a pair of boots.
One of the leaders, Loy Sai Lee, and several teammates pooled their money together to help me.
I went to Sungei Road and bought a pair of second-hand boots from a Sikh vendor.
It meant the world to me.
I learned the joy of receiving kindness.
Today, whenever I see someone in need, I remember those boots and try to help where I can.
A small act of kindness can echo through a lifetime.
