Give Your Dream One Hour a Day

You have a dream to master a skill.

Maybe you want to learn a new language so you can converse with someone you love. Maybe you want to play a musical instrument and bring joy to yourself and others. Maybe you want to complete a marathon. Or finally write and publish the book that has been living inside you for years.

You keep telling yourself, "One day."

Then work gets busy. Life gets in the way. You get tired.

Years pass, and that dream is still sitting on your bucket list, unchecked.

So what will it take to finally do it?

Perhaps it starts with one hour a day.

Instead of spending every evening watching Netflix, dramas or scrolling through your phone, invest one hour in the person you want to become.

One hour to learn.

One hour to practise.

One hour to move a little closer to your dream.

The days will pass anyway. The weeks will pass. Another year will pass.

Now imagine what could happen if you spent even one hour a day learning and practising for the next 365 days.

You would have invested 365 hours in your dream.

That is a lot of learning.

The secret is to make the journey enjoyable. Keep the lessons small enough that you can finish them. Make practice interesting enough that you want to return tomorrow. Give yourself opportunities to experience small wins.

Progress creates motivation.

You learn a few words and suddenly understand part of a conversation. You learn three chords and realise you can play a song. You run a little farther than last week. You finish another page of your book.

You begin to see evidence that you are becoming capable of doing something you once only dreamed about.

Of course, distractions will come. There will be busy days, tired days and days when you don't feel like practising.

Find a way to stay the course.

Get a buddy. Join a community. Track your progress. Celebrate small milestones. Make your practice time something you protect.

You don't need to transform your life overnight.

You just need to stop leaving your dream for "one day."

Choose one dream.

Give it one hour.

Start today.

A year from now, you may be amazed by what those hours have become.
