My Dream Job: No Humans Required
I generally don't like dealing with people, including myself.
Human nature is flawed. People can be irritating. Some can even be cruel.
I was fortunate for much of my career.
I spent 12 years as a researcher, curating information. I hardly had to talk to anyone.
Then I spent 10 years as a software engineer, writing code. Again, there was very little interaction with people, apart from briefing my boss at the beginning and end of the day.
During the last 10 years of my working life, I had to deal with people constantly, especially as a customer service officer. I received verbal abuse. For me, it was hell.
For another 10 years, I was an online pet finder. People sent me details of their lost pets, and I posted them online. No talking required.
For 12 years, I sold books on Amazon. Again, I hardly had to interact with anyone.
For a while, I tried online trading. I got badly burnt and never touched it again.
Looking back, these were the perfect jobs for an introvert and a recluse like me.
Even today, I'm still searching for the next perfect job where little or no human interaction is required.
Some people dream of corner offices. I dream of a job with no meetings.
