We Are World Champions at Complaining
We complain about the heat.
We complain about the rain.
We complain when it’s too hot.
We complain when it’s too cold in the MRT.
We complain about the cost of chicken rice.
Then we queue 45 minutes for the “famous” one.
And complain again while eating it.
We complain about GST.
We complain about ERP.
We complain about COE.
We complain about not having a car.
We complain about having a car.
We complain that the government does too much.
We complain that the government does too little.
We complain about vouchers.
We also complain when there are no vouchers.
We complain about the MRT breakdown.
We complain about crowded buses.
We complain about road works.
We complain when road works are not done fast enough.
We complain about work.
We complain about not having work.
We complain about our boss.
We complain about being the boss.
We complain about HDB prices.
We complain about condo prices.
We complain about property agents.
We complain about not owning property.
We complain about young people being entitled.
We complain about old people being stubborn.
We complain about influencers.
We complain about not having followers.
Sometimes I wonder if complaining is our unofficial national language.
English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil… and Complainese.
Which is why I think it is time.
Time for a new national campaign...
