The Day I Walked Away
Every day I felt miserable at work.
I literally dragged my feet to the office.
My supervisor seemed determined to make life difficult for me and hoped I would quit.
One day, my friend Billy Kueek reminded me that I had a choice.
I could stay and remain miserable, or I could leave.
Out of desperation, I made the most difficult decision of my life.
I resigned.
The day I walked out of the office, I felt like a prisoner breathing fresh air after years behind bars.
But freedom came with a price.
I had no job, no savings, bills to pay, and young children depending on me.
I felt as though I had jumped out of an airplane without a parachute.
Looking back today, it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Sometimes the hardest decision is the one that gives us back our freedom.
