The Most Powerful Man in the Room… Needs the Private

When I was in the military, I used to compare a lot.

I was a tiny low-ranking fly buzzing around rooms full of shiny high-ranking officers. Everyone had badges, stars, deep voices. I had… a name tag.

Naturally, I felt small.

Until I discovered my superpower.

I knew something they didn’t.

Whenever their computer froze, projector refused to cooperate, or some mysterious “system error” popped up, guess who they called?

Me.

One day, there was a big meeting chaired by the Chief. The atmosphere was so tense you could almost hear people trying not to breathe too loudly. Everyone sat very straight, praying not to be called on to answer any difficult question.

Then suddenly, someone said, “Call the IT guy.”

That was me. On standby outside the door like a secret weapon.

I walked in.

The Chief looked at me very seriously and asked, “How do you play this game?”

Turns out… it was just a computer game he couldn’t get started.

That was the day I stopped comparing ranks.

Because sometimes, the smallest fly in the room is the only one who knows where to click.
