The Pet Finder
In 2008, I quit my corporate job.
I had no clear plan and did not know what I would do next.
So I prayed and looked for opportunities.
While reading the classified advertisements in the newspaper, I noticed a problem.
Advertisers were paying $45 a day for three lines of text.
Most ads had no pictures, no website, and very little information for buyers.
I thought there had to be a better way.
Every day, I sent SMS messages to advertisers and offered an alternative.
For the same price, I would post their advertisements with pictures on dozens of online classified portals and help them gain greater visibility on search engines.
Most were not interested.
Perhaps new ideas are often met with skepticism.
But I kept going.
Then I noticed something unexpected.
The most responsive advertisers were people searching for their lost pets.
Without planning it, I discovered a niche and became Singapore's first online pet finder.
A new business was born.
Opportunities often appear when we focus on solving problems instead of searching for jobs.
