The Marble Table
As told by Li PL
As the sun began to set, I made my way to my favourite marble table beneath a large tree on the university campus. The evening breeze stirred the leaves as students hurried past with backpacks slung over their shoulders, each chasing a future they hoped to build.
A familiar old brown dog wandered over and settled a few feet away from me. We kept each other company in comfortable silence. It never asked for attention, and I never felt the need to speak. Somehow, that quiet companionship soothed my soul.
I loved that corner of the campus. It wasn't just a place to rest. It was where I learned that growth could be peaceful. Surrounded by people striving towards their dreams, I quietly learned to believe in my own.
Looking back, I realise that the places that shape us are not always the grandest. Sometimes they are simply a marble table beneath a tree, an orange sky at sunset, and an old dog reminding us that contentment can be found in the ordinary.
